John Fitzgerald Kennedy was both a U.S. representative and U.S. senator from Massachusetts. As the 35th president, he established the Peace Corps and worked for civil rights reform, manned space flights, and social welfare programs. Tragically, President Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas, in 1963.
